With a land area of 2,426,206 Ha in java and Madura Island of Indonesia, Perhutani enjoys one of the highest percentage of forest plantation in the world. The forest function are for production forest 1.7 million Ha and conservation forest 658,902 Ha. Perhutani forest plantation covered by Teak (tectona grandis) 1,2 million Ha (52 %); Pine (Pinus merkusii) 859,300 Ha (34,79 %); Mahogany (mahogany sp) 102,842 Ha (4,17 %); Damar (Agathis sp) 100,842 Ha; Kayu Putih (Cajuput sp) 18.211 Ha; Sengom (Paraserianthes falcataria) 9,991 Ha; Meranti (Shorea sp) 13,860 Ha; Akasia ( Acacia mangium) 22,485 Ha; Sonokeling (Dalbergia latifolia) 22,955 Ha; Kesambi 3,443 Ha and Mangrove 50,684 Ha.

The management commitment as the best management of plantation forest in the world that environmentally and socially responsible is indicated by corporate vision ‘ To become the best tropical forest in the world’. In this commitment Perhutani board od Directors stated that at the end of 2015 all Perhutani Forest Managemnt Unit will be apply to comply sustainable forest management certification with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standard. A long process to pursue its target have began on 2003, when Perhutani forest management unit at five district collaborate with Tropical Forest Trust (TFT) to comply with FSC standard. Those forest management units are Kendal Kebonharjo, Cepu, randublatung and Ciamis. In 2005, Perhutani started to collaborate with IFTN WWF ti comply with FSC Standard forest Management Unit namely Bojonegoro, Jatirogo, Saradan, Madiun and Banyuwangi Utara.

The main assessment for Kebonharjo and Kendal FMU with FSC forest certification standard has done by Soil Association UK on Desember 2007. The updated of certification decision is waiting for the certification Body. The pre assessment for Cepu, randublatung, Ciamis, Madiun and Banyuwangi Utara FMU with FSC standard has been done by SGS Qualifor on February 2008.`
